Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
With thanks to lizzie Harbach, John Renton, Lynn Draine and Langdale Pharmacy we do have a supply of disposable gloves, masks and hand sanitizer gel. If you do require any of these items then please do let me know directly.
Newspapers
Huge thanks to Pat Mitchell in Kensworth and the 14 volunteers that are now running and delivering daily newspapers – such an important service to those that enjoy their daily paper! Prescriptions
With massive thanks to Melissa Newland in Studham who is now managing the prescription delivery service, which since my last update has had a few tweaks!
If you have any residents requiring a prescription picking up from any location please do get in contact directly with Melissa: melissa.newland@btopenworld.com01582 872205. It would be very helpful if we could know a week in advance, but we know that this isn’t always possible! She can then plan the volunteer logistics.
From our research, it does appear that many of our residents now have their prescriptions delivered which is great news.
Update so far:
Markyate have a delivery service for all those that are vulnerable.
Boots do a delivery service – now wavering their fee during this crisis, however very difficult to get hold of. Further information can be found here: https://www.boots.com/online/pharmacy/new-to-boots-triage
Co-op do a free delivery service
For any others that require pickup please do let Melissa know, and we will do our very best to co-ordinate efforts so a delivery by one of our volunteers can be possible
Cash Services
If your “adopted friend” is having problems paying for services either with cash or has no access to online banking – the following link may be able to help!
Daily Phone Call
Keep up the daily phone calls, if not every day, just what you and your friend have agreed to. It helps breakdown the barriers when asking for help and of course the contact will help with the feeling of loneliness.
Local shopping – some useful information!
Milkman
There is a milkman who delivers to the villages three times a week. In Studham he delivers Monday Wednesday and Friday. Warning: usually around 2 in the morning!! Whilst this would not by any means cover a weekly shop, it does at least give the chance of bread eggs, milk, yogurt and some other items at a couple of days notice. Yes, they are dearer than supermarkets, but the sell by dates are an awful lot longer!! Contact details are: 0752 389922.
Local Farm Shop
Alan Munn, Dagnall Farm shop, is open until 6pm most days. Eggs, and veg although he does to some tinned stuff. He cannot deliver, however one of our volunteers – Kathy Sutton has very kindly offered, for our friends, to take orders for local produce and delivery to support Munns and the post office at Little Gaddesden and Eddlesborough.

Dunstable Supermarkets
Many local supermarkets have put aside special opening hours for our elderly and vulnerable, and those helping others- this also applies if you are a registered volunteer and have been issued with your ID badge. Most of the supermarkets are now doing this system
Butchers – new addition
F. Horton & Son Butchers at Totternhoe (https://www.facebook.com/hortonsbutcherstotternhoe/) make deliveries to Studham;
ID Cards
If you don’t already have your ID car and have been allocated a friend, please do email me your picture and I will organise this for you.
